The Drums and Bugles of the Royal Marines observe 'Sunset' as the White Ensign of HMS Ark Royal is struck for the final time at a public event on the River Tyne  19/11/2010

Here she comes! Our flag signal "UW 1" was hoisted from the balcony of the lighthouse  **

Up river from the best seats in the house

We wish Captain Kyd, and the Officers and Crew of our old friend HMS Ark Royal,  "Fair Winds and Calm Seas" for the remainder of their Service ... wherever it may take them.

It was a privilege to have been on top of the Lighthouse as she went by.  Our gratitude to Lt Cdr Woods MBE RN and the Port of Tyne Harbour Master Capt. Mike Nicholson and his staff for their understanding, patience and support. Also to HMS Calliope for the loan of their signal flags.

**  The Flag signal "UW 1" reads "Thank you and Good luck"

Our special thanks to Captain Jerry Kyd RN for making us so welcome during the last Official Reception on this fine warship.
